Eat – Orana

See – Bicentennial Conservatory

Located in the heart of Adelaide’s Botanic Garden, you will find the Bicentennial Conservatory. Built as a commemoration of Australia’s 1988 Bicentenary, it is to date the largest single span conservatory in all of the Southern Hemisphere. Wander through and feel like you’ve been transported to a prehistoric rainforest world. The echoing birdsong and the foggy tropical mist will truly make you forget you’re within a man-made structure. At 100m long and 47 metres wide, choose to walk along the forest floor or take pleasure in a canopy walk through the trees. Benches along the way mean you can take a break and just enjoy the environment, you’re welcome to bring along your lunch and enjoy sitting quietly for a while.

No trip to Adelaide is complete without a visit to the Central Adelaide Market. At over 145 years old, this food and produce market is a true Adelaide institution and a bustling hub of activity. The largest undercover market in the Southern Hemisphere, enjoy a stop by one of the many cultural cafes or perhaps pick up some tasty treats to delight in after perusing the diverse array of market stalls. Offering the freshest of fruits and vegetables, locally made cheeses, bakery goods and health foods, there is surely something to tempt everyone’s appetite.
